Commercial Banking is a major part of our business and a fast-paced, diverse area to work in. Our teams serve over 1.25 million businesses, including 91% of the FTSE 100 and 83% of the FTSE 250, plus over 100,000 new start-ups, each year. With a client base of that size, it’s no wonder that we work with businesses of every kind – from within the hospitality and leisure sectors, to not-for profit healthcare and retail markets. Above all, we aim to offer the best service to support UK and UK-focused businesses to succeed, and help Britain prosper.

Within Commercial Banking, our Mid Markets & Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (MM & SME) teams work with the UK’s most impressive business people and entrepreneurs to help them set-up, grow and succeed. For creative, curious and business-minded students and graduates, an internship or Graduate Leadership Programme here is a fantastic way to discover how you can make an impact on a national scale.

Through a series of placements, which could take you to different cities across the UK, you’ll learn how to build lasting relationships with clients and how best to support them from start-up to growth, as well as the best financial products to help businesses thrive. You’ll support a range of industries – anything from hospitality and leisure, to not-for profit and retail. In short, you’ll have access to everything you need to grow and uncover what you enjoy most.

Our internships give you incredible insights into the world of entrepreneurial business. You’ll learn how we take care of the needs of clients of all types and sizes, through our financial products and services. And you’ll discover what key skills help us build the best client relationships.

Overall, you’ll learn a lot about us, but you’ll also learn a lot about yourself. Not just the strengths you can bring to our team, or the skills you can develop further, but where you might like to join us, after you graduate.

Locations: All of our programmes are rotational and our Commercial Banking MM & SME roles are based in all major cities including Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, and Manchester. Interns will stay in the same location for the duration of the programme.
