When you join us:

You’ll discover the difference you can make

Our purpose is to Help Britain Prosper. So, as well as looking after our customers, we work hard to make a positive impact in the community. Over the last 30 years, we’ve given £600 million to support charities through our independent charitable Foundations.

In 2016 we helped 121,000 start-ups to get off the ground, and we helped more than 75,000 first-time buyers onto the property ladder. And in 2017 we announced a new partnership with Mental Health UK – through this, we’re creating a pioneering Mental Health and Money Advice Service for people experiencing difficulties in their mental health and finances. As part of our team, you’ll get involved in volunteering and Group-wide challenges that make a real difference to the lives of others.

You’ll discover how far you can go

The sheer scale of our business means there are so many opportunities for you to explore new areas, discover new strengths, and develop yourself and your career. We’ll give you all the tools, support and inspiration you need to make the most of them. We offer everything from TED-style talks to innovation labs, from leadership training to digital development. This is one of the reasons we’ve been recognised by The Times as a Top 100 Graduate Employer (2016) and as a Top 100 Undergraduate Employer by Rate My Placement (2016-2017).

You’ll discover how it feels to be at the heart of innovation

With 12.5 million online users and 8 million mobile users, we’re constantly exploring new technologies to improve customer service. For example, we’ve introduced ‘selfie’ verification for account applications and video meetings for mortgage applicants. In 2016, our in-house customer innovation labs tested more than 30 new technologies and services.

We’re also changing how our people do things across our organisation, such as using virtual reality in our recruitment processes. It’s all part of our journey to becoming a bank of the future. Our approach means you can be part of an innovative, collaborative and fast-paced business that is transforming the way millions of people bank.

You’ll discover that this is more than a job

By respecting your individuality and celebrating all you can bring to our team, we’ll help you to feel happy and valued at work. Our collaborative and inclusive culture is developed and promoted by networks such as Access, which supports colleagues with disabilities, and Rainbow, which represents our LGBT colleagues across our business. We’re proud to have been named one of The Times’ Top 50 Employers for Women and to be the number one private sector employer in Stonewall’s 2016 Top 100 Employers Index.
