Joining specialist quant teams in business areas across Lloyds Banking Group, including Group Corporate Treasury, Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets, Group Risk and our Commercial Banking Client Products teams. In the role, you’ll build on your mathematical skills, technological know-how, and financial knowledge to create models that are critical to the future shape and success of Lloyds Banking Group. You will be working closely with trading to deliver financial markets models.

What you’ll learn on the PhD Quant Programme

Over the course of the programme, you’ll build on your mathematical and technological skills, gain valuable business and technical experience, while developing your financial knowledge. You will learn how practitioners build financial markets models and see them working in real life.

You will benefit from a training programme that will balance academic learning with the development of business and technical skills. Your skills will be matched against the most appropriate needs and you will be placed within one of our quantitative teams at Lloyds Banking Group  

You will also gain valuable exposure through on-the-job secondments within other quantitative teams. In short, the PhD Quant Programme will help you build solid foundations and expose you to vast opportunities to learn, grow and build a rewarding career.

The work you could be doing

Working across all phases of model life-cycle from design to coding, testing, documentation, validation and monitoring. You would be assigned projects to code new models, or enhance existing ones. You’ll work on financial markets models, including pricing models, XVA models and Risk models, as well machine learning, AI and Data Science models.

Working alongside a buddy and supervised by a senior member of the quant team, you’ll document the model changes, code them in the quant development environment, test them and submit them for model validation, until the model changes are approved and eventually released in the production platform.

What you need to apply

To apply you must have recently completed (or be close to completion of) a PhD (or equivalent) in a highly quantitative subject such as mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, engineering or chemistry.

Knowledge of stochastic calculus, machine learning or statistics, and experience in a programming language, would be highly valued. In addition, we are looking for individuals who demonstrate a positive attitude, good team-working skills, and possess a strong desire to learn, adapt and succeed.
